There are 5 Steps to updating your software:

This update is intended for CLIQ owners who have updated their software and found their
date/time set to 1969. It is not recommended for owners who have not yet updated their CLIQ
software. An improved over-the-air version will be available for you soon.

Note:This manual update is designed for owners to self-install a software update through
their computers to their CLIQs. However, if you would rather not attempt this update yourself,
click the “Contact Us” link to the left for help from a Motorola Agent.

Make sure your battery is fully charged so that you don't run out of power during the update process.

  1. Turn on your phone by pressing the power key and camera key at the same time.
  2. When the bootloader screen appears, let go of the camera key first, then the power key. The bootloader screen is black with green writing at the top of the screen.
  3. Press the Down Volume button - You have 10 seconds to press the Down Volume button. (If you fail to press the key in 10 seconds, simply turn off your phone and start over from Step (a) on this page.)
  4. Slide open your physical keyboard
  5. Wait for the “!” to appear and press Alt+S
  6. Wait for the process to complete – your phone will restart when it is finished.
  7. When your update completes successfully, delete the "Update.zip" file from your SD card. This is important for your ability to receive future updates.

If the update process does not work – if you continue to experience the same issues – turn off your phone and start the process again from Step 1 on this page. You may try multiple times to get it correct. If it will not correct, please contact Motorola or T-Mobile to explore your options.
