  ActiveSync
Spacer Exchange Server: Please note you will need authorization from your employer’s IT department before connecting your Motorola Q. This setup enables you to wirelessly synchronize your email and other information directly with the information stored on a Microsoft® Exchange 2003 Server. Typically, this set-up is required if you would like to synchronize your Motorola Q with your employer’s Exchange Server.

Setting up Microsoft® Exchange Server ActiveSync Email

If you did not set up an Exchange Server email account, follow the steps in this section to set up an account now. Work with your Corporate IT department to gather the following info:
  • Mail server address, domain name, and whether your company or email provider requires an encrypted (SSL) connection to the mail server.
  • Your username and password.

Note: The Exchange Server settings are case sensitive. Be sure to enter uppercase and lowercase letters properly.

Note: For these instructions, “LSK” refers to the Left Soft Key; “RSK” refers to the Right Soft Key on your Motorola Q.

  1.Press Start (LSK)

  2.Select the ActiveSync Icon .

3.Select “set up your device to sync with it” located on the main ActiveSync screen.

4.Input your mail server address in the Server Address field.

  5.Press Next (RSK)

6.Input your user name, password and domain in the appropriate fields. Choose whether they would      like to save their password.

  7.Press Next (RSK) .

8.Choose which data you would like to sync (Contacts, Calendar, Email, and/or Tasks).

  9.Press Finish (LSK)

Note :Further settings are available for Email and Calendar. Select data sync parameters for your     calendar and email by pressing Menu->Settings. You may select more or less data to maintain on     your device and the amount of data to sync for each email message.

10.You can choose your Exchange ActiveSync schedule by selecting Menu->Schedule.

Note :Note: Syncing continuously will lead to shorter battery life than selecting a less frequent sync     schedule, so carefully consider how often you’d like to receive data during peak and non-peak times.

Setting up Synchronization using ActiveSync on the Desktop

1.In the Synchronization Setup Wizard, Press "Next".

2.Select "Synchronize directly with a server running Microsoft Exchange Server". Press "Next".
NOTE: Depending on your corporation's IT policy, the server address when configured inside the      corporate firewall may be different than when configured on the device. Contact your IT      administrator for the correct information.

3.Enter the server address, your login, password, and domain. Press "Next" when complete.

4.Choose what data you would like to sync with the server. If you choose to sync with the Exchange      Server, the device will synchronize over-the-air with the email server. Press "Next" when complete.      Note: Only Contact, Calendar, Email, and Tasks are synchronized with the Exchange Server.

  5.Press "Next".

  6.Press "Finish".
