Motorola has sent updated product information to owners of a limited number of V3m mobile phones to advise them of a change in the SAR and HAC ratings of those phones that occurred as a result of a software upgrade. The upgrade occurred to a limited number of phones after the phones were manufactured and shipped to Verizon and was not intended to affect any of the published specifications of the phone. When the changed specifications were discovered, the upgrade was modified going forward and Motorola acted to provide affected customers with the updated information. Customers may be assured that the affected phones continue to meet the FCC´s requirements for SAR and HAC.
Most customers will detect no difference in the performance of their V3m phone. However, if a customer desires to have the phone returned to its original specifications, he or she may take the phone to a Verizon full service retail store for the software change.
What are the changes to SAR and HAC specifications?
The changes are noted in the notice to consumers. The V3m continues to meet FCC requirements for these specs. For further details, please contact the call center at : (866) 742-7022.
What is SAR?
SAR stands for “Specific Absorption Rate” and refers to the level of a user’s exposure to radio waves coming from the mobile phone. The SAR value comes from a special measurement performed according to an exacting special testing methodology that has been adopted by the FCC. SAR values accepted by the FCC also meet international guidelines and are recognized as safe for use by experts and regulators around the world, including the FDA and the World Health Organization. What is HAC
HAC stands for “Hearing Aid Compatibility”. The HAC value comes from a measurement created by experts that is designed to help hearing aid users predict which phones will operate best with their hearing aids. Both M3 and M4 are values accepted by the FCC as meeting the needs of hearing aid users.
