1. Place a call from your email screen
You can respond to an email quickly by placing a phone call to an
existing Contact. Simply highlight and select the name or address
and the contact will appear on the screen, including phone number(s).
2. Toggle between email accounts
If you have two email accounts (personal and business) and frequently
get text messages, you can easily toggle between the various accounts
without going to Home screen each time. When you are viewing
any account, use the Left or Right arrow on the Nav Key to navigate
your accounts
3. Auto-sync one email account
If you have two email accounts assigned to your device, only select
one to automatically sync. Set your Exchange server Active Sync (business
email ) peak times so they don’t conflict with your peak personal
email usage times. This will also improve your overall battery life
performance. See Power Saving Tips and Tricks for instructions on
how to Set your synchronization schedule.
4. Sync items in your Sent Folder
In order to sync Sent items (personal or business email ) select
Folders, then Menu > Manage Folders > choose the Sent folder
and select Sync (Right softkey).
5. Send an email from a calendar notice
You can send an email from a calendar notice when any email or contact
information is provided in the meeting notice.
- Open up your Outlook Calendar.
- Scroll down and open the appropriate appointment.
- Scroll down to the email address underlined in the body of the
appointment using the navigation key or the thumb wheel.
- Press the action button in the middle of the navigation key.
- Select the email account from which you wish to send the email.
- Press the action button in the middle of the navigation key.
- Type out your email and press Send.
1. Call Forwarding
Press Start > Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Select the desired setting, Unconditional or conditional (No Reply,
Busy, Unavailable). Then select the desired number to forward
calls to. To select a preset number, like voicemail, select
it. To enter a number of your choice, select Custom and enter
the number below. Be sure to include the plus sign (+) and country
code before the phone number. Then press Done.
2. Conference Call
Place your first call as usual, then dial the second number and press
“SEND” (the green key) again.. When your second call connects press
send again to connect both calls.
1. Set your synchronization schedule
You can set your MOTO Q to automatically synchronize with your PC
at time intervals that you specify, so that your MOTO Q does not synch
as regularly during off-peak times as during peak usage times.
- Press Start.
- Select ActiveSync.
- Press Menu.
- Scroll down and select Schedule.
- Scroll down to Peak Times.
- Scroll right to choose the right option for your needs.
- Press Done.
2. Use your screen dimmer
Set your screen to automatically dim after your MOTO Q is idle for
a certain period.
- Press Start.
- Scroll to and select Settings.
- Scroll to and select More.
- Scroll to and select Power Management.
- Scroll to Backlight Time Out on Battery.
- Scroll left to decrease the time delay from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Press Done.
3. Disable Bluetooth® connectivity when not in use8
When you’re not using your Bluetooth® headset and
accessories, you can easily turn this function off.
- Press Start.
- Scroll to and select Bluetooth.
- Select Bluetooth Manager.
- Scroll to and select Settings.
- Scroll left to deactivate Bluetooth on your device.
- Press Done.
4. Control the number of applications running
You can minimize the number of applications that run at one time.
- Press Start.
- Scroll to and select System Tools.
- Scroll to Task Manager.
- Scroll to the application you’d like to end.
- Press Menu.
- Select Kill for that single application or Kill All to end all
running applications.
1. Bookmark mobile-friendly websites
Many websites support ‘Mobile friendly editions’ (e.g. www.CNN.com/togo/)
or ‘lo-fi’ versions. Choosing to bookmark these sites will provide
a more efficient mobile web experience.
- From the web browser, press Action > Go To
- Type in the URL and press Ok
- Once the page loads, press > Bookmark This Page
- Confirm the information and press Ok
2. Save pictures and videos to storage card by default
Set the storage card as the default location to save pictures and
videos.
- Be sure a storage card is correctly inserted.
- Press Start.
- Scroll to Pictures & Videos.
- In Thumbnail view, press Menu > Options > Camera.
- If you have a storage card inserted, you will have the option
“Save files to: Storage Card”.
3. Customize the time limit for your videos
Change the time limit for videos.
- Press Start.
- Scroll to Pictures & Videos
- In Thumbnail view, press Menu > Options > Video.
- Set video length to 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or no limit.
4. Synchronize Notes on your MOTO Q
Notes created in Microsoft® Outlook are not directly
supported in Microsoft® Windows Mobile 6, and cannot
be synchronized directly to the MOTO Q 9h. Notes may be used with
third party applications or alternative sync solutions such as Good™
Mobile Messaging.
5. Navigate Contacts by Category
Make it easier to navigate large Contact lists by using the Category
field to differentiate ‘Business’ and ‘Personal’ contacts, for example.
When searching Contacts, choose Menu > Filter.
